Jill Steinbach-Rankins, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Fellow at Boehringer-Ingelheim and an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Louisville. She joined Boehringer-Ingelheim in May 2022, after holding as Associate Professor (tenured) appointment in Bioengineering at the University of Louisville for 8.5 years. Her research focus is in the area of drug substance and drug product pre-formulation, with prior expertise in the development of nanoparticles, electrospun fibers, and 3D-printed composites as new multipurpose technologies to combat female reproductive and oral viral and bacterial infections. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and her Master’s degree at Arizona State University while working full-time in industry. Her desire to more directly impact global health issues led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, after which we was fortunate to conduct her Postdoctoral training at Yale University.
