Recent research interests include endovenous treatment and R&D for varicose veins.
Micropulsed laser research has been intensively conducted with the US industry since 2007 and presented at ACP meetings. One of them was awarded at the UIP meeting, Boston, in 2013 as the second place poster abstract award. In addition, another paper was presented at EVF 2014, Paris, as a representative paper awarded by the Japanese Society for Phlebology. In Japan, the paper entitled “New Endovenous Thermal Ablation Using the Micro-Pulse Laser” regarding micropulse technology was selected as the best paper in 2017 by the Japanese Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine.
Most recently, the first treatment in Japan using cyanoacrylate was performed by the joint investigators group of Juntendo University, Edogawa Hospital, and Tokyo Vascular & Vein Clinic in 2016.
R&D projects have been also started to achieve the next generation of cyanoacrylate embolization with RIKEN and the University of Tokyo in Japan.
