Dr. Deepak Kilpadi, PhD, MBA is a Senior Medical Science Liaison at 3M, prior to which he was a Staff Scientist and Scientific Lead in R&T at KCI, now part of 3M, where he has been for over 20 years of his 25 years in wound healing research. He used to co-manage the pre-clinical group where his projects touched upon most of the KCI NPWT product platforms and which generated unique insights into associated mechanisms of action.
Dr. Kilpadi earned his undergraduate engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, an MBA and a PhD in Biomaterials both from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He subsequently did a post-doctoral fellowship in wound healing, followed by an adjunct faculty appointment, both at UAB.
Dr. Kilpadi has 19 peer-reviewed papers, over 130 conference presentations, over 220 invited presentations, 4 book chapters, and 2 issued patents. He was actively involved with the Membership Committee of the Wound Healing Society (WHS) for 9 years, chairing the committee for the last 3 of those years; currently, he is with the Industrial Relations Committee. He is also on the editorial board of Annals of Plastic Surgery, has been a reviewer of papers for the journals Wound Repair and Regeneration, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and Journal of Wound Care. Dr. Kilpadi is a co-recipient of the 2020 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Award for Technology Innovation from The Academy of Medicine, Engineering & Science of Texas (TAMEST).
