Monahan Vein Clinic
Roseville, California
I am Daniel L. Monahan, MD. I am a longstanding member of AVLS. I am also active in the AVF, with Distinguished Fellow status, on the Board of Directors as Education Councilor, and on the Health Policy Committee. I completed my General Surgery residency in 1987, and practiced general surgery, including vein treatments, until 2001. In 2001 I transiftioned my practice to full-time vein treatment, with gradual inclusion of lymphedema care. My entire practice is in the outpatient setting. I also participate in our local community hospital Wound Clinic. I perform truncal vein ablations, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins, and more. I have in-office ultrasound with an RVT, and provide DVT assessment and management. We evaluate for pelvic venous disorders, but I defer treatment to local interventional radiology colleagues. I treat patients with the viewpoint of providing what is best for them; patients are seen as people with a need to be addressed, not as my opportunity to perform procedures. I also participate in advocacy efforts with AVLS (Heathcare Advocacy Committee), AVF (Health Policy Committee). I have been a co-author on the AVF Appropriate Use document, and on Medicare and Private Insurer policy critiques. I have been the program director of the West Coast Vein Forum since its beginning in 2015.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
