Dr. Guy Eakin is the Lipedema Foundation’s Chief Science Officer working to dramatically advance lipedema research. Guy works directly with patient and professional communities to coordinate the Foundation’s strategic research investments and infrastructure like the patient registry.
Guy brings a collaborative spirit to the research of the Lipedema Foundation, ensuring that the Lipedema Foundation is not only a funder, but also a vital collaborator in all projects. His experience includes leading development of clinical research networks in a range of conditions, as well as convening international workshops and conferences to align research strategies across diverse stakeholder communities.
Before coming to Lipedema Foundation in 2020, Guy led more than $135 million in research programs for the Arthritis Foundation and BrightFocus Foundation. His experiences cover biomarker development and drug discovery efforts, in addition to leading the development of one of the largest home-based patient reported outcomes programs for the arthritis patient community. Guy is a spokesperson for the Foundation with opinions and interviews published in numerous prominent media. Guy earned his PhD in Developmental Biology from Baylor College of Medicine before continuing research in developmental biology at MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers.
