A Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of South Carolina in 1986, Dean spent 18 years in the Textile Chemical field, where Dean was recognized globally as an expert in the dyeing and finishing of textile fabrics. In early 2004 Dean entered the field of Venous & Lymphatic medicine as Global Vice President of Research & Development for Jobst compression medical devices. In 2010 he was appointed President of CircAid Medical which became part of medi USA in 2012. A member of the ACP since 2008, he also served on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Venous & Lymphatic Disease from 2005-2017
As a humanitarian, Dean with the support of the medi family created a US based medical mission, medi for Help, which developed support for medical clinics in Haiti. Alongside Project MediShare and Notre Dame we were able to develop a sustainable wound care program in Port-au-Prince, a lymphedema clinic for those with lymphatic filariasis and a lymphedema and wound care curriculum for a Physical and Occupational Therapy baccalaureate program at the School of Rehabilitation in Leogone, Haiti
In the summer of 2017, Dean undertook a third career in Association Management when he took over the helm of the American Vein & Lymphatic Society and the Foundation for Venous and Lymphatic Disease.
Dean lives in Posrt St. Lucie, FL and has been married to his wife Debbie for over 34 years and is the Father of a daughter, Amanda Godwin
