Presentation Description:NG9-1-1 continues to be a critical part of the public safety communications ecosystem. During this presentation, you will hear from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), a federal agency that is responsible for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy issues. Representatives from NTIA's Office of Public Safety Communications will share updates on efforts related to NG 9-1-1, lessons learned from the most recent 9-1-1 grant, and will discuss the importance of definitions and operationally focused approaches to NG9-1-1. Participants will be able to take the information from this session and apply it to their own NG9-1-1 planning efforts.
Learning Objectives:
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is the federal agency that is responsible for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy issues. NTIA's Office of Public Safety Communications will share the latest updates on its efforts related to NG 9-1-1, including the lessons learned from the jointly administered grant program with the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA). Participants will gain an understanding of recent developments for NG9-1-1 from a federal partner that is supporting these efforts across the county.
This presentation will consider both a Center Director and a telecommunicator's perspectives to sustaining an advanced, IP-enabled, emergency communications solution. At the culmination of this session, participants will gain a deeper understanding of both the benefits and operational challenges of implementing NG9-1-1.
Participants will be able to take the lessons learned from this session and apply them to their own NG9-1-1 implementation.
