Presentation Description: Special events have become more complex and will continue in this direction as technology continues to evolve. This paper will focus on the need for better coordination between all users of wireless, from the event operations, to public safety organizations to the radio and television crews who come to cover the event. This preplanning must be done early on in the process so that all the stakeholders understand their roles, the roles of the other participants and the emergency contingencies that need to be agreed upon and put into place for Special Events, especially major ones, to succeed.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will walk away from this presentation with a good knowledge of all that goes into the planning of special events, contingencies that are required, the personnel that are required, the agencies and the liaisons that are needed to ensure a safe and successful event.
Participants will be able to identify doctrine and guidance for emergency planning and understand the relationship between preparedness and planning and building an emergency operations plan.
Modeled after the National Preparedness goal, I will define Preparedness in great detail. The participants will understand the core capabilities required for achieving the five mission areas of Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery.
