Presentation Description: Why is it that we "eat our young" and complain because we are understaffed? How can we expect the new employees to fit in when we are trying to get them out? Why is any of this allowed? Come and learn the how's and why's of center cannibalism, what specifically needs to change to end this practice and the barriers, excuses and habits that often make ending this practice impossible.

Describe how and why individuals and centers become cannibals and why it is "allowed." Additionally, list any benefits and consequences to this approach.
Explain the best way to develop and support new employees and why these practices are not consistently used in PSAPs.
Detail the habits and barriers that keep many centers stuck in cannibalism instead of development and these consequences of this choice. Explain the specific things that must change in a center to end cannibalism and become a fertile ground for new employees.
