Timothy Martin is the Director of UAS Training at The Regional Training Center in Fountain Valley, California. He recently retired as a police captain from the Huntington Beach Police Department with more than 25-years law enforcement experience. He served as the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) program manager for his department and was involved in the program development from the ground up. His law enforcement UAS experience includes policy and UAS procedure manual development, UAS training and field missions, equipment and team member selections, and FAA waivers. In addition, he is the point of contact for all public drone hobbyists for FAA rules and regulation inquiries. Tim also has a strong training background including less-lethal munitions, taser, emergency vehicle operations, and social media.
Tim is an experienced UAS remote pilot and holds a Part 107 license. He has extensive experience in flying several different UAS platforms both as a hobby and while participating and supervising public safety missions. His experience includes indoor flight, night flying, and aerial photography.
Prior to law enforcement, Tim worked in the photography industry doing both still photograph and videography. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University Long Beach.
