Joni Harvey is the State 911 Administrator for Michigan. She oversees the State 911 Office (SNO), which serves as the main point of contact for and provides resources to PSAPs and other local, state, and federal agencies for all things 911 in Michigan. Responsibilities of the SNO also include areas such as state training certification for telecommunicators, 911 surcharge collection and remittance, legislative requirements and reports, and compliance with 911 laws and standards; the SNO also serves as support to the State 911 Committee and its subcommittees. Joni represents 911 on numerous workgroups/committees at various levels of government.
Over the last 21 years, she has fully committed herself to the overall success of public safety operations. Joni is an active member of many 911 organizations and works to collaborate 911 and public safety efforts. She is a strong advocate of mentoring and providing opportunities for growth and learning. Joni is open-minded and believes in building positive and solid relationships with her fellow 911 colleagues and public safety partners.
During her time at Livingston County Central Dispatch, Joni assisted the center in becoming a Triple-Accredited Center of Excellence with the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, the first 911 dispatch center in Michigan, and the 15th agency in the world to be recognized with this honor. She also served as the project manager in the design and construction of a brand-new state of the art 911 dispatch facility.
Outside of work, Joni enjoys spending time with her husband, two adult children and teenage stepdaughter. She loves old classic movies, watching sports, and is attempting to learn how to play the piano and guitar.
