Wireless Communications Director, Statewide interoperability Coordinator (SWIC)

Peter Rogers joined the Tennessee Advance Communications Network (TACN) in June 2022 as the Wireless Communications Director and was appointed to serve as the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) in November 2021. Prior to joining TACN, Peter spent five years with Rutherford County (TN) Emergency Management as the communications coordinator.
During his 37-year career, Peter has been a part of numerous large-scale incidents and events throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and California. From wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, the Sofa Super Store Fire of 2007 (Charleston 9), a Blue Angels crash, to the Nashville bombing in 2020, his role has either been an operations or communications response. Peter has an extensive background in the fire service with additional experience as a law enforcement officer, emergency medical technician, photojournalist/videographer for print and broadcast media as well as a COMU and COMT. He served as the Lead PIO on a Type 3 All Hazards Incident Management Team in South Carolina for six years.
Peter is originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, and graduated from the University of South Carolina where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Peter and his wife Susan have been married for five years and live in Nashville, TN. Peter has a 13-year-old son Noah, who lives in Mount Pleasant, SC.
