Communications Manager

Michelle Potts has been the Communications Manager for the Chandler Police Department's Emergency Communications Center (ECC) since 2011. She has served in public safety emergency communications since 1996. She began as a 9-1-1 operator and has served in the roles of dispatcher, communications shift supervisor, and manager. Michelle is involved in various regional and national industry working groups. She currently serves on the Maricopa Region 9-1-1 Oversight Board, President for the Arizona Motorola Trunked Users Group, and co-chair for a NENA working group creating best practices for operationalizing supplemental data. She is the past chair of the Maricopa Region PSAP Managers Group and Emerging Technologies Working Group.
Her education includes a Bachelor's in Organizational Studies from Arizona State University, a Master of Administration in Public Management from Northern
Arizona University, and a Master of Arts in Security Studies - Homeland Security and Defense - from the Naval Postgraduate School. She is also a graduate from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command. Industry certifications include Registered Public Safety Leader (RPL) through the
Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO), as well as Emergency Number Practitioner (ENP) and Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP) through the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
