Eddie L. Reyes is the Director of Prince William County's Department of Public Safety Communications. He oversees Prince William County's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and Emergency Communications Center, which is responsible for answering all wireless 9-1-1 calls and dispatching calls for seven police municipalities and three fire and rescue departments.
Director Reyes has over 26 years of law enforcement experience retiring as the senior deputy chief from the Alexandria, VA Police Department after over 25 years of service and served with the Amtrak Police Department as Deputy Chief of Police of the Mid Atlantic Division. During his tenure with the City of Alexandria, he worked in almost every unit of the Police Department and worked some high-profile incidents including the attack at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, the Sniper incidents in 2002 and many mutual aid events in the National Capital Region.
Director Reyes is the current chairman of APCO's Spectrum and Technology Committee; the past Chairman of Virginia's State Interoperability Executive Committee under Governor Mark Warner, the past chairman of the IACP's Communications and Technology Committee and a past chairman of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Police Communications Committee. He also served as the chairman of the Governance Working Group for APCO's Project 43 (Broadband Implications for the PSAP).
Since the early 2000's, Director Reyes has been intimately involved with large scale public events and with technology related to all public safety operations, such land mobile radio systems, call processing equipment for 9-1-1 (CPE), computer aided dispatch (CAD), mobile data terminals (MDT), automatic vehicle locator (AVL), body worn camera programs (BWC), firearm discharge detection technology and small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).
Director Reyes also worked at the National Police Foundation as a Senior Law Enforcement Project Manager and currently serves as an executive fellow.
