Assistant 911 Director
Jay County Sheriff's Dept
Portland, Indiana
I have been in Public Safety for 21 years, starting as an ambulance driver in 2000, becoming an EMT in 2001 and grew from there. I worked as an EMT off and on since 2001 and obtained my National Advanced EMT in 2015. I started dispatching for a medical transport company in 2002 . In 2008 I started my career in 911 and quickly excelled. In 2011, I was asked to help build a training manual, 800 pages later it was submitted to APCO P33 for certification and approved on first submission. I completed my APCO Instructor course in 2012. I have been with my current agency, of 14 dispatchers, for 5 years. I am currently the Assistant 911 Director, IDACS/NCIC Coordinator and Training Coordinator. I am currently certified to teach PST-1, EMD, Fire Communications, CTO and Law Communications. My next goal will be to take the RPL program. I also volunteer on the APCO Awards Committee, (a total of 7 years, including being a Group chair for the past 3 years) and the Agency Training Program Committee for the past 3 years. Training is an on going thing, where the saying "you can learn something new everyday" is very true.
