Presentation Description: Our success in life is directly tied to those who came before us. Those who risked and broke out of the and stereotypes meant to hold them back. Now, it is our turn. As women in this profession, you must find new ways to build up other women and set the standard of excellence. As men, you need to learn how to best support your female employees. Additionally, you must have mentors who foster your continued development. Come and learn how to more effectively develop women, find a mentor and get out of your own way.
Learning Objectives:
Detail the skills, traits and abilities that the best mentors possess and the obstacles and challenges they had to overcome to achieve excellence. Additionally, explain what you need to do (practice, adopt, stop doing, etc.) and how you will overcome the challenges on the road to becoming a role model mentor and successfully develop your mentees.
Describe how men are different from women in this profession and why it is important to acknowledge and address differences. As a part of this, what are the stereotypes that women can fall into and how can you help your women from doing this. Finally, detail the specific tools and approaches men can use to better support and challenge the women they lead/mentor.
Explain the outcomes that can be achieved for both the individual and the center when employees utilize this approach to mentoring. Detail the specific hurdles that need to be overcome or removed before this approach will work long-term. Finally, detail how making positive changes will help you recruit high quality women and men to this profession.
