Presentation Description: When a caller contacts a communications center and reports a likely cardiac arrest, getting CPR started and sourcing a nearby AED are both critical actions to initiate without delay. The capability to provide both Telecommunicator CPR (T‐CPR) and nearby AED locations (T‐AED) is readily available today. This presentation will focus on the steps required to build and manage an AED registry and provide nearby community AED locations to callers during cardiac arrest call processing.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will understand the tasks required to build and maintain an AED registry for use during cardiac arrest call-taking.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to identify and understand the research indicating the value of providing proximate AED locations to callers during cardiac arrest call-taking.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will understand dispatcher workflows related to T-AED initiatives demonstrated through common dispatch center EMD and call-taking applications.
