Dr. Porscha Showers lives in Dallas Fort Worth Area, but grew up in the greater New Orleans area. Her current role is a Patient Access and Quality Principal Medical Scientist at Gilead Sciences where she talks to value based decision makers regarding the value of Gilead’s portfolio which includes the following; Oncology, HIV, COVID-19, Hepatitis C and B/D. In addition to her day role, Dr. Showers has played a pivitol role in the Enhancing Diversity within Oncology Medical Scientist, Program.This program, implemented in 2022, provided minority interns a first hand day in the life of an MSL at ASCO 2022.
Dr. Showers’ prior experiences include the following: Oncology Clinical Trials Pharmacist, Walgreens Staff Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacist at various hospitals. She was also at Aetna where she served in numerous roles such as PA Pharmacist, Manager and Vendor Management with her most recent being Formulary Manager for 4 Medicaid and 5 Duals Plans while also serving as Assistant Pharmacy Director for Mercy Care Advantage. Before joining Gilead in 2019, Dr. Showers was an Evidence and Outcomes Liaison at Eli Lilly and Company for the Central Region.
Dr. Showers received her PharmD in 2014 from the Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an active member of the North Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., DFW Graduate Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc. and DFW Xavier University of Louisiana Alumni Chapter. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Minority Women’s Pharmacist Association and immerses herself in giving back to the community.
