Karen L Rascati, RPh, PhD, is the Eckerd/Turley Centennial Professor of Pharmacy and Graduate Advisor for The University of Texas College of Pharmacy (UT-COP). She received her Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (UF-COP), and worked at a community pharmacy and as director of outpatient services at Shands Teaching Hospital, before retuning to UF-COP to complete her PhD. She has been on faculty at the University of Texas (UT) College of Pharmacy since 1986. Dr. Rascati has supervised over 60 MS and PhD graduate student projects and has authored or co-authored more than 140 publications and over 250 national/international meeting presentations. The third edition of her book “Essentials of Pharmacoeconomics” was published in 2021. The first edition of this book won the UT Hamilton Book Award. It is used in many countries and in the majority of US Colleges of Pharmacy. Her research interests include economic and outcomes evaluations for several disease states as well as for pharmacy services. She is a Fellow of the American Pharmacist Association (FAPhA), has served as National President of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, and on the Board of Directors (Treasurer) of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). She is currently an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy (JMCP). In Fall 2019, she was awarded the University of Texas College of Pharmacy Graduate Teaching and Mentoring Award.
