Ashley N. Chiara, PharmD, MBA, BCPS is a Clinical Consultant Pharmacist with Commonwealth Medicine's Clinical Pharmacy Services at UMass Chan Medical School. She has extensive experience working with pharmacy benefit management in government-sponsored healthcare programs. Her responsibilities include completion of new drug reviews, quality assurance analyses, therapeutic class reviews, and various formulary management activities pertaining to mental health diagnoses and psychiatric medications for Medicaid clients. As a part of her responsibilities, Dr. Chiara oversees a pediatric behavioral health medication initiative which aims to promote safe and appropriate prescribing of psychiatric medications in children and adolescents. In this role, she leads a multidisciplinary and multi-agency therapeutic class management workgroup and interacts with prescribers and pharmacies. She also conducts full therapeutic class literature and evidence reviews for pediatric mental health disorders. Dr. Chiara received her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees from Western New England University and completed a post-graduate managed care pharmacy residency with Commonwealth Medicine's Clinical Pharmacy Services.
