“And Then Poof, All of a Sudden, It’s Popping up All Over.”
Educators and school librarians are currently weathering pop-up storms of censorship everywhere. Hear the voices of book challenge veterans who weathered storms of social media and school board meetings as well as quieter forms of soft censorship. What role did policy, process and allies play in their stories? In this lightning talk we share findings from a collective case study examining the experiences of these professionals. “A lot of this work comes from the kids wanting these books and me fighting for them to have it there.”
