Dr. Anthony Bernier is full Professor at the nation’s largest library school: San Jose State University’s School of Information. He most recently wrote and edited the second edition of Transforming Young Adult Services published in 2020 by ALAEditions.Before it ceased publication he published a regular column, “YA Strike Zone,” in Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA). He was twice elected chair of ALA’s Library History Round Table and continues to serve on the Program Advisory Board of Zambia’s Lubuto Library Project. Before joining the SJSU faculty in 2005, he served as a professional YA librarian and administrator for nearly 15 years - during which time he designed the nation’s first purpose-built YA library space: TeenS’cape. Dr. Bernier has received two large IMLS National Leadership research grants and an ALA presidential appointment to the Committee on Accreditation (COA). The iSchool has honored him with Distinguished Service, Outstanding Professor, and Outstanding Researcher Awards.
