Meredith K. Saba is an instruction/reference librarian working overseas at The American University in Cairo (Egypt). She currently teaches a required 15-week core curriculum LALT 1020 (Libraries and Learning Technologies) course for all first-year students that covers basic information literacy and research skills in the digital age. She also provides reference, research, and collections services for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty as the primary liaison to the School of Sciences and Engineering. Prior to this, Meredith worked in the libraries at the University of California Davis, Indiana University Bloomington, and at Yellowstone National Park, in addition to working abroad at the United Nations Library in Vienna, Austria. Meredith has a Bachelor’s degree in Science, two Master’s degrees (including her library degree from Indiana University Bloomington), and she is currently pursuing her PhD in Information Science at the University of Wisconsin. Meredith’s research interests include various online teaching and learning models, assessment strategies, university and library strategic planning, and international students. Her work has recently been published in the peer-reviewed journal "Library and Information Science Research", and her doctoral dissertation focuses on the globalization of higher education and how university libraries are supporting internationalization initiatives on their campuses in the global, digital, and informational age.
