Ashley Allen is a Customer Service Specialist at the Central, Queens Public Library, where she has worked in the area of Youth Services since 2012. Ashley started out her library career as a after school services hourly-rate employee, while attending undergrad for her B.S. in Business Management, Psychology of Management and Organizations Minor which she received from the CUNY School of Professional Studies, along with her New York State Teaching fellowship & Certification. After her practicum in elementary education and doing a few years as a Certified Professional Nanny and Childcare Provider, Ashley decided she much rather enjoyed teaching outside of the normal classroom structure and that the non-profit realm of libraries and cultural institutions is where she could have the greatest impact on the youth from her local community. Ashley has worked on a variety of different YA serving programs, grants and partnerships throughout her years at Queens Public Library, and is currently the acting coordinator for the Teen Space at the Central Library branch. Ashley has a true gift for helping the young people she works with and even supervises, through positive youth development and progressive strategies across all areas of their passions, which include – academics, social/emotional learning, and civic engagement.
