Angel Abounader is a Georgia native. She earned her BA in English from the University of Georgia and MLIS from Valdosta State University.
Angel has been a public library manager for 15 years. She is the manager of the Commerce Public Library where she works closely with her growing community, one of the fastest growing counties in the country. She works hard to fulfill her library’s mission to create young readers and foster lifelong learning, ensuring that the library evolves in response to the community’s growing needs. She is passionate about outreach with the local Boys and Girls Club, local school systems, the American Legion and other community groups to help build lasting relationships between them and the public library.
She is a graduate of the 2019 PINNACLE Library Leadership class of Georgia, a member of ALA, GLA, FOGL, Kiwanis, and a member of the American Legion Post 56 Auxiliary. Her interest in serviing veterans, military and military families recently led her to serve on the Libraries and Veterans National Forum Toolkit Committee. She is the proud wife of veteran and pleased to be part of the toolkit’s presentation here at ALA 2022.
