Laurie is the Children's Librarian III for the Hollywood Area of Los Angeles Public Library. She served on the 2017 Caldecott Committee and is currently on the 2023 Sibert Award Selection Committee. She helped create and launch LAPL's Pilot Mentorship program and continues to serve on the Mentorship Committee.
