Nashville Public Library / Equal Access Division / Library Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing
Sandy serves as the Equal Access Manager of the Nashville Public Library and founded the statewide Library Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (LSDHH) program, through NPL and the State Library and Archives in Tennessee, 43 years ago. She has served on and chaired numerous local and statewide boards and committees of nonprofit organizations, including more than 10 comprised of or serving the D/deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and disability communities. She has received several awards for her work - most notably, recognition of the LSDHH program from the U.S. Department of Education as an "exemplary library and media services program." Sandy is a member of ALA, having served as a co-presenter at the 2016 national conference. In 2017 she made a presentation on the Library Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing program to the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) Section on Library Service to People with Special Needs held at Gallaudet University and helped write IFLA guidelines for serving deaf and hard of hearing people in libraries.
