Sharon Rawlins is the Youth Services Specialist in Lifelong Learning at the NJ State Library in Trenton, NJ. She is the convener for CORE’s Youth Services Consultants Interest Group, and was the CORE liaison to ALA’s Literacy Assembly from 2018-2020 and was a member of the 2019-2020 CORE Committee Recognizing Excellence in Children’s and Young Adult Science Fiction. She chaired YALSA’s 2015 Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults and has served on other YALSA and ALSC award and selection committees (2013 Michel L. Printz Award, 2011 Sibert Award, 2009 Margaret A. Edwards Award, 2007 Best Books for Young Adults). She is a Past-President of the national Collaborative Summer Library Program and a Past-President of the New Jersey Library Association’s Young Adult Services Section. In 2019, she received the Librarian of the Year Award from the New Jersey Library Association. She wrote the foreword for Diane P. Tuccillo’s The Teen Library Internship Handbook and also regularly reviews for School Library Journal and Booklist.
