Nicole Umayam is the Digital Inclusion Library Consultant at the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. An archivist turned library consultant, Nicole supports libraries on projects such as improving library technology and broadband networks, wifi hotspot and laptop lending, digital literacy and online learning, and digital preservation of culture and language. She collaborates with digital inclusion stakeholders nationally and leads on Connect Arizona, a statewide initiative to increase broadband adoption and use in Arizona. In 2020 she was honored with the Outreach Service Award from the Arizona Library Association, and in April 2021 her work with the State Library was honored as a “Champion of Education” by School Connect. Nicole serves on the Board of Directors for Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology (AZ StRUT), a non-profit computer refurbishing center that provides tech education to students with a commitment to responsible e-waste recycling. She has a masters in applied linguistics and a masters in library and information studies from the University of Oklahoma.
