South Carolina Center for Community Literacy, University of South Carolina
Christine Shelek is the Executive Director of the South Carolina Center for Community Literacy. The Center (also known as SCCCL) is a resource and research center for students, teachers, and librarians across the state and the home of Cocky's Reading Express, the University of South Carolina's award-winning literacy outreach program. As the executive director, she is responsible for planning, promoting, managing, and evaluating all operations and programs of the Center. In addition, she teaches UNIV 101: The Student in the University and was a 2021 finalist for the M. Stuart Hunter Teaching Award. At the national level, Christine represents South Carolina on ALA's Peggy Barber Tribute Grant Selection Committee. Christine received her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from West Liberty University in West Liberty, West Virginia.
