Delandrus Seales is a librarian from Wilmington, NC. She previously spent 8 years as a school librarian, and she spent 1 year as a public library branch manager in Southeastern North Carolina. Ms. Seales earned her MLS degree from East Carolina University as an IMLS Laura Bush Scholarship recipient.
Ms. Seales has experience teaching grades K-12 over the past 12 years, including 8 years as a school librarian, and 4 years as a Special Education Teacher. Her experience includes teaching students library, technology, information, inquiry, and digital citizenship skills through the integration with ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Arts standards. Ms. Seales also provides training to K-12 staff on technology, software, research models, PBL/Inquiry-based Learning, and digital tools. She's worn many hats as a school librarian: district school librarian mentor, webmaster, public relations coordinator, School Improvement Team member, and arts/specials chairperson. As a special education teacher, she served as a department chair at two schools in Onslow County. Ms. Seales has provided professional development to teachers, district leaders, school administration, and librarians within Onslow County (NC), New Hanover County (NC), and at state level conferences.
Ms. Seales currently serves as the NC Technology in Education Society South Director (2019-2023), and she is the NC School Library liasion to the NC Library Association Executive Board. Ms. Seales was a 2017-18 NC School Library Media Association Emerging Leader, and she was a 2018-19 NC Friday Institute's Digital Leaders Coaching Network East member; and NC School Library Media Association Coastal Director (2019-2022).
Ms. Seales currently serves on the ALA-EMIERT Coretta Scott King Book Awards Executive Board (2019-2023) as the Publications Committee Chairperson (2019-2023), and is a member of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Technology Committee.
