Judith Cannan grew up in New Zealand where she completed her education before immigrating to the USA. She worked at Ohio University and then at Cornell University before joining the Library of Congress staff almost 46 years ago. She has held several positions at LC. In June 2019, she was appointed chief of the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs Division. The division manages LCSH, LCC, two Library of Congress standards, Classification Web, Catalogers Desktop, descriptive policy, on-the-job training for staff in the Library Collections and Services Group, serves as the Program for Cooperative Cataloging secretariat and provides support and training to those working in the BIBFRAME Editor.
