Dr. Tess Prendergast is a Canadian LIS educator with an extensive background in inclusive early literacy services for diverse families. Her doctoral research explored early literacy in the lives of children with disabilities. After over two decades on the frontlines of children's library services, Tess now teaches librarianship and children's literature at the School of Information, University of British Columbia. Her research seeks to better understand the role of children's librarians in the lives of children and families, especially those with barriers to access. She is also interested the ways that children's picture books portray the experiences of refugee families, Indigenous families, and people with disabilities.
