Chesapeake Public Library
Amanda Jackson has served as the Director of the Chesapeake Public Library in Chesapeake, VA since 2018. Prior to that, she was the Director of the Gadsden Public Library in Gadsden, Alabama for 12 years. She holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor's from Jacksonville State University. Ms. Jackson's work centers on providing equity to under-served communities through partnerships and non-traditional service models. These services include: providing library cards to every Chesapeake Public School student, the transformation of the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Outreach and Innovation Center, working with the Beautiful Rainbow Gadsden City School students to provide workforce development programs for students with intellectual disabilities and providing fine free services in Gadsden and Chesapeake.
