Devera Chandler is a Library Associate for Gwinnett County Public Library and creates programming for culinary literacy. Programs created include virtual programming for special diets, Cooking Through the Catalog, and the Mobile Kitchen project. Devera has also worked with her library’s Staff Engagement department to help train other staff members using the Mobile Kitchen. Over the past 11 years, Devera created projects such as Bling Your Prom (a donation program of prom attire to give away to teens), and Silent Library, which was so popular, VOYA magazine published an article in their October 2017 publication about the program. In addition, Devera was a member, co-chair, and chair of the Georgia Peach Book Award for Teen Readers committee. Her work with teen advisory councils was published in the 2018 book, Teen Advisory Groups by Diane P. Tuccillo and Joni Richards Bodart. Devera also won a $500 honorable mention prize at the 2016 YALSA Symposium in Pittsburgh, PA for her Symposium Program Challenge, Adulting 101.
