Digging Into Diversity Audits for School Libraries

Join us as we share our experience completing a diversity audit in our high school library. This session will walk you through our process of planning, completing, and reflecting on an audit of our fiction section, examining diversity in authorship and characters. We will share some of our favorite resources for organizing an audit, as well as address some things we learned along the way. While we will focus on our experience at the high school level, the takeaways from this program can be easily adapted to any level of school library.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss the purpose and importance of the diversity audit process.
Plan and facilitate a diversity audit of a school library collection.
Analyze and reflect on diversity audit data to drive inclusive collection development.
