Evaluating Partnership Opportunities in Comics Librarianship: What’s In It For ‘We’

"Comics librarianship" is a relatively new, exciting and rapidly growing unofficial field of library work. This work generates interest from students, new professionals, mid level career folks and corporate sponsors due to potential community impact, literacy and learning implications, and growing understanding of the business opportunity in this market. This panel will include a brief overview of the history of comics librarianship, but will focus on forecasting future trends and how to effectively evaluate and navigate the partnership and sponsorship avenues. Participant takeaways will include a clear understanding of upcoming opportunities and tools to evaluate and maximize them.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will have a better understanding of what comics librarianship is, and have their questions answered about its history and growth.
Potential partners and sponsors will have a better sense of what comics librarians, and the GNCRT specifically, are looking for in partnership opportunities.
Library workers will have a better sense of how to evaluate partnerships and opportunities, not only as a whole but in comics specifically.
