Abstract/Program Book Description: RMRT welcomes Pulitzer Prize author Debby Applegate. She will speak about her latest book, MADAM, The Biography of Polly Adler, Icon of the Jazz Age. Applegate on CBS Sunday Morning speaking about the book.
During the Roaring '20s, F. Scott Fitzgerald said, the word "jazz" went from first meaning sex, to then dancing, and then music. You could get all three at NYC madam Polly Adler's, where sex, dancing and music was also the order of priorities for her patrons.
The biography discusses an America bursting into the modern age, with new roles for women and new rules for couples.

We are delighted to have Pulitzer Prize winning author Debby Applegate. She will speak about her latest book, MADAM, The Biography of Polly Adler, Icon of the Jazz Age. Both she and the book were featured on CBS Sunday Morning.
