William Collum is a Partner in the Tampa, Florida office of Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP representing insurers in various first-party property coverage issues and first-party property extra-contractual “bad faith” issues. He has broad experience in homeowner claims as well as complex, multi-property commercial claims.
William provides legal advice at all stages of claim investigation, including conducting Examinations Under Oath and Sworn Statements. He advises on a wide range of insurance claims, including fire losses, windstorm losses, water losses, sinkhole losses, and losses stemming from equipment breakdown. He also is adept at navigating clients through suspected or actual fraud issues in first-party property claims.
William has litigation experience in a variety of homeowner and commercial first-party property claims as well as first-party extra-contractual “bad faith” litigation.
William received his Bachelors of Arts degree in political science, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Stetson University. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law. While at Stetson University College of Law, he was a member of Stetson University College of Law’s nationally-recognized Moot Court Board, where he participated in moot court competitions across the nation. At graduation, Stetson University College of Law awarded William the Victor O. While Award for excellence in trial advocacy.
William is admitted to practice before all state courts in Florida and the federal Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida.
