Chief Legal Officer
Peoples Trust Insurance Company
Brett Frankel is the Chief Legal Officer for People’s Trust Insurance Company, a property and casualty insurer in Florida, a managing general agent (MGA), and its four affiliates: a construction and inspections company, a finance company and a captive reinsurer. A member of the Senior Management team, Brett provides legal counsel for all company matters and serves as the administrator to the Board of Directors for procedures and required documentation, maintains a point position on regulatory matters, negotiates and drafts contracts, leases, licenses, disclosure agreements, employment contracts and other legal documents. He anticipates and safeguards against legal risks facing each of the companies and develops policy and position on legal issues. Brett manages the in-house legal department that handles the property insurance claims and liaisons with outside counsel retained to handle specialized claims actions.
Brett also currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Deerfield Beach Economic Development Council, WE Insure and the Florida Property and Casualty Association. He is also a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel Insurance Staff Counsel Committee, the American Bar Association and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2004.
Prior to his tenure with People’s Trust, Brett was in private practice representing property insurers in first and third party claims, and adjusters and employer representatives in worker compensation and general liability matters. Other areas of private practice included government land development, local use planning and zoning issues.
Brett received his BS in Public Health from Indian University-Bloomington, School of Political and Environmental Affairs and his JD from the University of Toledo, College of Law where he was a Reinberger Honors Program Prosecutorial Fellow.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Brett currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida with his wife Jennifer and children Spencer and Addison.
