Recent studies find that the US is more polarized than at any time since the Civil War, resulting in higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Challenges on how to meet this new state of social norms leave many of our clients needing tools to help them learn more effective coping skills. We will analyze the psychological factors underlying these mental health challenges while describing strategies for improved emotional regulation. From an integrative perspective, utilizing internal family systems, depth psychological perspectives, and transpersonal psychotherapy, this presentation will review and explore three modalities that create greater feelings of internal safety & management, self-awareness, and emotional regulation to improve feelings of well-being. Clinicians will learn methods to help their clients reduce stress, loosen rigid defenses, find internal stability, and encourage a growth mindset.
