Jimmy is a twenty-year Veteran of the Fire Service. As a fourth generation native Washingtonian, he is proudly employed by the District of Columbia Fire Department, currently serving as a Lieutenant with 33 Engine “The Valley”, one of DC’s busiest engine companies. During his first eleven years, Jimmy served with 16 Engine "The Midnight Express" serving First Due to The White House and Central Downtown area's of DC. In 2020, he was promoted to Sergeant, serving with 4 Truck "The Big House", where he served on-duty during the civil unrest in the Nations Capital on May 31st, 2020, and again responding tot the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021.
Jimmy co-organized the DCFD Infection Control Group; a nerve center tasked overnight with maintaining the highest level of Emergency Service to the Citizens and Visitors while simultaneously protecting their own Membership, ability to staff their Department, and minimize exposure risks for all parties, respectively.
Notably, Jimmy also serves as Co-Chair of the DCFD Cancer Advisory Council, developing programs and advocating for the best practices to reduce and prevent exposure to occupational hazards which are known to cause Cancer.
Jimmy has extensive experience as a Certified Instructor, specializing in Commercial Building Operations, Secured Facility Tactics, Communications Interoperability, and Mass Transit Response.
Starting in 2002, he began as a Volunteer in Montgomery County, MD, last serving as a Captain with the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and is a Graduate of the distinguished Fire and Emergency Services Management Degree Program at Montgomery College.
