- Gary has worked at Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County for 15 years, where he currently serves as the Recovery Outreach Supervisor. In his role as Outreach Supervisor, Gary leads an Outreach team of 7 Peer Recovery Supporters and an Outreach Counselor. The team seeks to link those in need with treatment options and walk beside them to help with the barriers of early recovery from SUD. The Outreach team works with an altruistic goal of connecting people with an appropriate treatment opportunity or community resource. We are both diverse in our make-up and culturally sensitive in our approach to working with people. Gary’s team is Trauma and Motivational Interviewing trained as well as bringing their personal experience with SUD, and most importantly with recovery. There is intensive work with the community at large, the courts and police departments, and are hospitals. Gary also works on several community committees, is past president of Ohio Citizens Advocates for Addiction Recovery (OCAAR) and is the current president of the nonprofit board Next Step Living which is working to further develop Recovery Housing in Preble County, Ohio. He received his Associates Degree in Mental Health Technologies from Sinclair Community College, His bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Capital University, and his Rehabilitation Counseling Masters from Wilberforce University. Gary went on the Wright State to complete the needed classes to test for the Licensed Professional Counseling credentials. Most recently Gary has obtained training for EMDR counseling and also has a private practice.
