Jasmin Lara Sibai (she/her/hers) graduated with a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and an Advanced Certificate in Public Health and Humanitarian Action from the Program on Forced Migration and Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Through the Overdose Response Strategy, she now serves the South Florida region as the CDC Foundation’s Public Health Analyst in its unique partnership with the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program.
Before joining the CDC Foundation, Jasmin served as the President of Humanitarian Organization of Migration and Emergencies and was engaged with the Puerto Rico Inter-professional Education Service Learning Project. She analyzed the prevalence of childhood asthma in the G8 communities in San Juan, Puerto Rico, post Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Selected as a Lerner Center Service-Learning Fellow, Jasmin served as one of the leaders in disaster preparedness efforts and disseminating a comprehensive report to community partner Proyecto ENLACE.
Jasmin is exceptionally dedicated to the humanitarian sector and emergency response rooted in the public health field. Her research skills include epidemiology, program coordination, data collection, program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Her family's personal refugee history is a driving force for Jasmin's passion to take action and perform service in humanitarian settings. Jasmin is also the recipient of former President Obama's Presidential Volunteer Service Award and the Columbia Alumni Association’s Campbell Award, the highest award honored to a student at Columbia University in the City of New York.
