Director of Training and Outreach
The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI)
Louisville , Kentucky
Brittney has more than 14 years of law enforcement and executive leadership experience. Prior to joining PAARI, Brittney most recently served as the Administrative Commander/Major for the Jeffersontown Police Department in Kentucky. Her duties included managing the department budget, communications, civilian personnel, IT, policies and procedures, grants, and community projects.
In 2016, Brittney developed the first Angel Program in Kentucky. This innovative program was modeled after the original Gloucester program to connect persons struggling with addiction to treatment resources in lieu of arrest. Since this program’s beginning, the model has spread across Kentucky to all State Police posts and numerous police departments.
Brittney also established the department’s first Victim Services Program in 2019. The success of this program and the continued need to help those suffering from addiction and mental illness ultimately led to the expansion to a Community Resource Unit, including adding an additional social services worker to expand the efforts of the Angel Program.
Brittney has presented at numerous national conferences and events, including the US Senate Opioid Roundtable, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Conference on Responding to the Opioid Epidemic, the Cocaine, Meth & Stimulant Summit, and the IACP DAID Conference.
Brittney received her Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville and her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University-Global Campus. She has also received certificates from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) Academy of Police Supervision and Criminal Justice Executive Development Course, and 200-hour Power Yoga Teacher Training.
