Dr. Georgiy Bobashev is an RTI Senior Fellow in the Center for Data Science at RTI International with over 20 years of experience in health research. His current research interest is focused on the applications of predictive modeling to substance use research. Predictive methods often combine machine learning with mechanistic (e.g., agent-based and system dynamics) modeling and require linking multiple datasets of various nature. He is currently a PI on NIDA grants to study social media using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and to develop simulation models to help policy makers combat substance misuse and overdose deaths. Dr. Bobashev applied modeling, statistical analysis and machine learning to health-related areas, including substance use, HIV, child/maternal health, influenza, measles, cancer, diabetes, and violent behavior. In addition to his RTI duties, Dr. Bobashev is an adjunct professor at NCSU, NYU, and DSTI
