As we approach 1 in 5 people in the United States being of Hispanic descent, the dental team should be aware of both cultural and linguistic approaches to engaging this blended ethnic group. The U.S. has the second largest population of Spanish speakers in the world, over 40 million, which continues to grow within our borders and dental practices. This two-hour course will cover history, different dialects, and approaches to basic communication in serving the Spanish-speaking dental patient.
Learning Objectives:
Learn basic pronunciation of (common/proper) dental and health vocabulary in Spanish
Be able to obtain a health history from a Spanish-speaking patient
Know how to inform patient of basic diagnosis, treatment, and scheduling
