Graduated in 1991 from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston Texas. From the period 1994 -2004 he served the astronaut corps and their supporting pilots onsite at NASA/JSC as an independent contractor. During his time, Dr. Hodapp became keenly aware of the barometrically related issues the astronauts faced during their training, and over time has developed an algorithm to aid in the diagnosis of these conditions. Dr. Hodapp currently sees the astronaut corps in his private practice and serves as a consultant to NASA on dental planning for exploration class missions. He is a Master diver and Dive master and has a genuine love of flying, and diving. He has authored the dental chapters in two medical textbooks related to spaceflight: “Oral Health Considerations” in “Biomedical Results of Space Shuttle”, Risen D, Stepaniak PC, Editors, 2013, and “Dental Considerations” in “Principles of Clinical Medicine for Spaceflight”, 1st and 2nd Ed., Barratt MR, Baker E, Pool SL, Editors 2019. He has earned his Mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry, achieved Master status with Laser and Health Institute, and is a of the the Aerospace Medical Association.
