This session explores the types, causes, and symptoms of trauma children may experience as well as the impact of trauma on the developing brain and consequences for language and social pragmatic communication. The speaker discusses how to recognize trauma symptoms in preschool through elementary-age children and the importance of an interprofessional approach for engaging with children and families with histories of trauma. The speaker also shares trauma-informed assessment and intervention processes.
