(POS16) SLP and OT Perspectives on comorbidity of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and Sensory Processing Disorder
While potentially existing in isolation, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) often presents with co-occurring difficulties with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) (ASHA, 2007; Newmeyer, 2009). The current study analyzes responses from SLPs and OTs elicited via focus group and survey, evaluating perspectives on potential co-morbid presentation/treatment of CAS and SPD.
Learning Outcomes:
You will be able to:
Describe discrepancies within CAS clinical presentations
Explain overlapping characteristics in SPD and CAS
Identify areas for expanded and comprehensive assessment
